Your privacy is very important to me. I follow a few fundamental principles:
- I don’t ask you for personal information unless I truly need it.
- I don’t share your personal information with anyone except to comply with the law, or protect my rights.
- I don’t store personal information unless required for the on-going operation of my site.
- For information about data you leave when you follow my blog, or when you leave a comment, these are handled by WordPress. See how they handle data here.
Like most website operators, I collect non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. This is to better understand how visitors use my website.
I collect potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses for users leaving comments. I only disclose logged in user and commenter IP addresses under the same circumstances that I use and disclose personally-identifying information as described below, except that blog commenter IP addresses are visible and disclosed to the administrator of the blog where the comment was left.
Gathering of Personally-Identifying Information
I ask visitors who comment on my blog to provide a username and email address. I do not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below. And visitors can always refuse to supply personally-identifying information, with the caveat that it may prevent them from engaging in certain website-related activities.
I may collect statistics about the behaviour of visitors to my website. For instance, I may monitor the most popular pages on the list25.com site or use spam screened by the Akismet service to help identify spam. I may display this information publicly or provide it to others. However, I do not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below.
Protection of Certain Personally-Identifying Information
I will not rent or sell potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information to anyone. Other than to its employees, contractors and affiliated organizations, as described above, I disclose potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only in response to a subpoena, court order or other governmental request, or when I believe in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the property or rights of myself, third parties or the public at large. I take all measures reasonably necessary to protect against the unauthorized access, use, alteration or destruction of potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information.
Comments and other content submitted to Akismet anti-spam service are not saved on my servers unless they were marked as false positives, in which case we store them long enough to use them to improve the service to avoid future false positives.
Removing your data
If at any time you’d like me to get rid of any records I’ve kept (including comments you’ve made) let me know via the contact form, using the email address you used, and I’ll remove all your records using that address.
