A ship that should not be there
The civilian courier drifted across a restricted shipping lane with no engine flare, no navigation lights and no response to repeated hails.
Its distress beacon reported a systems failure. Their sensors showed no damage and no life aboard.
The transponder identified the vessel as the Mira Vale, registered to a freight company that had ceased trading three years ago.
Then the distress signal repeated with exactly the same pauses and fluctuations.
It was not an accident. It was a lure.
How should they investigate?

The interior was pressurised and warm. Emergency lights glowed along the passage even though the main systems claimed to be offline.
There were no bodies, abandoned meals or signs of panic. The courier did not look deserted.

A dead agent’s code
A dormant console activated on the bridge.
It displayed a security code assigned to an Imperial agent declared dead more than ten years ago.
The code had been used less than an hour earlier.
Then the console began transmitting directly to a receiver somewhere nearby.
What should they do?
Brent and Tian have discovered proof that a dead agent’s identity is active again, and that someone expected them to answer the signal.
